Hermit Crabs
“Thank you Pets in the Classroom for allowing us to get hermit crabs. Students earn “money” each day if they do their job and as a class set aside $6000 “super bucks” in order to get these crabs. We have had students improve two levels in reading because they WANT to read to the crabs, and one student in particular uses them to regulate his emotions instead of using impulsive behaviour. Our favourite part of the day is when they come out at 3:00 and wave good-bye to us!”
