Join the Virtual Learning Lesson Exchange!

  • Teachers – submit a video lesson that features your classroom pet.

  • The Result: A Library of Virtual Lessons for teachers to access online!

With your help, we at Pets in the Classroom want to be a resource for teachers who are looking for ways to include their classroom pet in virtual learning lessons, as well as lessons within the classroom. In an effort to provide virtual lessons for teachers to use, Pets in the Classroom is asking teachers to submit video lessons that include their classroom pet in our Virtual Learning Lesson Exchange!

This is how it works…

Film an instructional video geared toward students that uses your classroom pet in teaching your lesson. Once you have filmed the video, upload it to YouTube, Vimeo, or Instagram, then share your link through our online form below. When we have reviewed and accepted your submission, we will ask for your original video file (.mov or .mp4) to upload to our own channels.

After submissions have been reviewed, all accepted videos will be available for teachers to use and share with their students!

Guidelines:

  • The Exchange is open to all Pets in the Classroom grant recipients in a previous or the current school year that has a small animal in the classroom (Dogs, cats and other larger house pets do not qualify).
  • Videos should be an instructional video/lesson plan geared toward students (grades Pr-K to 9th grade).
  • Videos must feature a classroom pet the Pets in the Classroom grant program supports.
  • Instructional video should be around 10 minutes to 30 minutes in length.
  • Videos should offer 1-3 post-lesson activities for students to complete on their own.
  • Applicants may submit multiple entries, but will only receive one gift card.
  • Applicants certify that all content in the video is original and belongs to the entrant(s).
  • No copyrighted or trademarked materials or submissions holding a publicity or privacy right of third party (music, images, etc.) may be used unless you own the copyright, trademark, right or have a license to use the material for this promotion. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all these types of materials.
  • Applicants must obtain permission to use any location that is shown in the video.
  • Applicants must have in their possession a signed Photo/Video Release Form from all other people in the video who can be visibly recognized—minors must have parent or guardian signatures.

Videos will not be accepted if:

  • Content does not feature a classroom pet that our program supports.
  • Content is not a lesson plan that can be used for educational purposes for grades Pr-K to 9th grade.
  • Language is inaudible.
  • Video is unclear or unstable.
  • Content is not original or proof of permission to use with copy of licensure to use content (music, images, etc.).
  • Photo releases are not provided.
  • Submissions Include trademarks, logos, or copyrighted material not owned by the entrant. All images or references to third-party brands, logos or works must be edited or blurred in the video submission.

Video Tips:

  • Quiet background, check your lighting (behind the camera lighting your face).
  • Speak clearly and slowly and look directly into the camera.
  • Test your camera and voice for 20 seconds to ensure all is well positioned.
  • It doesn’t need to be perfect, we encourage creativity and fun.
  • Pre-think how and when you use your pet in the video.
  • State at the beginning of the video what the lesson will be taught.
  • Check audio when you finish recording to make sure everything is audible and clear.
