A Letter from a Teacher
A couple of weeks ago, we posted an article that the Associated Press wrote about the Pets in the Classroom grant program. The article specifically highlighted the classroom experience of one teacher, Dawn Slinger, the 1st grade teacher of Farmington Elementary School in Farmington, Minnesota. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, please do so!
Mrs. Singer wrote us a wonderful letter about her experience, and we wanted to share a little portion of it with you:
“Teaching my students compassion, respect, and the understanding of animals is very important to me. Integrating this into everyday experiences through writing, reading, and science lessons has made it enjoyable for my students and me. I have taught for 25 years, 24 of those years I have had pets in the classroom for the above stated reasons. The grants through The Pet Care Trust that I have received are very much appreciated!”
